My dream of painting in Ireland, being amidst those magnificent fields of green, the mist, the ancient stones ~ I think it’s been in my bones for centuries. It’s time to manifest this before I go.

“Oh! these underpaintings are the Burren I was reading about this morning!” Somehow my heart felt this coming weeks — long before conscious awareness surfaces from my heart.

Three earthy underpaintings on Arches paper, five New Earth Goddess Portals on canvas, in which I’d layered the textured pumice stone surface up and carved my own kind of heirogphs with willow charcoal.

So many family and friends have passed on these past few years, I feel an urgency to manifest my deepest, most life-affirming feelings while my body is able.

The funny thing about this dream ~ this wish ~ is that I wasn’t fully aware of it until this morning! I mean, yes I’ve talked about it for years, Jim and I thought we’d one day go to Ireland. But it was just a seed, stuck down inside my heart. I was not actively “manifesting.” There’s a big difference between dream seeds that linger fallow, and those that sprout and feed us for a lifetime.

1. This seed needs air, light, flow

My first thought: conjure up a painting, a vision of Ireland. Not from a photograph, not a travel brochure, a vision from my heart.

I took my lunch out on the deck to ponder the idea of painting Ireland. As I laid my head back in the sun and rested, Ireland paintings in the studio — ones I’d started two days ago popped to mind. Not realizing what the earthy green papers I’d pulled from the flat files represented, I used gritty pumice stone mixed into verdigris pigment with metallic tinges.

Paul Henry, Dawn, Killary Harbour, 1921

I let my heart wander quietly. Paul Henry’s mystical tonalist landscapes drift to mind. Recalling descriptions I’d read about the Burren, ‘human civilisation came to the Burren shortly after the end of the Ice Age, 10,000 years ago. 500 ring forts and some 75 wedge tombs of Neolithic origin have been found in the region.’

Beyond Dreams

I feel the connecting thread ~ which just yesterday was such a great divide. I felt troubled by my desire to paint the gritty earthy abstracts and several new cloudscapes with new ethereal light. Could Ireland be the link between ancient goddess and new mystical earth healing? She’s already shown herself in the art.

Now I see a throughline. This is where we begin to explore new turf within the heart.

2. Seed Your Own Dream Journey

Stillness is the best space for manifesting dreams. We are trained to think, to expect, to be DOING something, anything! Stillness was Edison’s secret, he took short naps in the bed in his office regularly. Even two minutes, eyes closed,

Receiving inspiration happens when you create space. Inspiration loves a vaccuum.

Try being blank! Don’t have the answer. Don’t anticipate. Stop and wait. Wait for inspiration.

Jot down all those disjointed thoughts. Let them be.
