What is an ARTIST'S Legacy PROOF?
My Artist's Legacy Proof is a completely unique work of art. It begins where the my Artist's Linen Edition begins — the same foundation image, the same Belgian linen, the same translucent layers and pearlescent light and textile collage and marks from heart to hand. And then it takes flight on its own.
What happens next follows my most inspired creative process because it takes flight in a conversation with you.
No expectations carried in from yesterday. No predetermined destination. Only presence — to what I feel as we speak in this precious moment, newly, for the first time.

This is what I love most about being an artist — falling in love with new friends, feeling their imagery move through my mind's eye, watching something begin to form that neither of us could have predicted.

Something moves through me in the act of making that I have learned to trust rather than explain.
It may arrive as a haiku embedded within the surface of the work. It may be revealed in the title. It may be woven so quietly into the making that only the Certificate of Authenticity will fully name what it holds and why.
And sometimes it arrives as something I don't yet understand myself — something that comes through before I know what it means or what it signifies.
I pass this sacredness on in faith. That as you unravel her, many threads of meaning will blossom — for you, and for the generations who come after.

A Letter From Dorothy
Before you inquire, I'd like to tell you something.
When I was eleven years old, my Aunt Agnes gave me my first set of pastels.
I don't know if she understood what she was doing. I'm not sure it matters. What I know is that something passed between us in that moment — woman to girl, hand to hand — that I have spent my entire life following.
Agnes lived and worked on her own terms. In the era she inhabited, that was not a small thing. She did not explain herself or diminish herself or wait for permission to be who she was. She simply was — without apology a tiny pistol of a woman I admired. And I, at eleven, I wanted to carry what she was packing.
