All There Is, Beyond Dreams: ( 36" x 132") An expansive Atlantis view of the Chesapeake Bay portal is portrayed in two paintings; All There Is, and Beyond Dreams. The sky opens with buttery palette knife strokes of ethereal colors, and fills a peaceful sanctuary with light. Strokes of hot pink, teal, and green in the foreground marsh reflect human vitality, and divine feminine harmony.
Art in Service of the Watershed
Virginia's own state-commissioned study, released in July 2026, found that the coastal aquifer beneath the eastern region is in decline — population growth and industrial water use outpacing what the ground can replenish. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Virginia policy manager put it plainly: "We're standing on the ledge."
I've painted the Chesapeake Bay watershed for fifty years — from the Appalachian highlands of West Virginia, the woodland streams, to the pond beside my studio in Mathews County, Virginia, the aquifer beneath my feet, the marsh, the rivers, to the mouth of the Piankatank River where she meets Hills Bay and the Chesapeake. Not as an observed subject — as an embodied landscape; earth sky water in harmony within a living system. I call this practice Splash Scribble: art nature co-creation: expressionist painting as an ekg registered by my heart-hand emotional connection with the aquifer.
This is the moment for that practice to do more than heal my own personal life. I'm inviting museums, environmental nonprofits, universities, and conservation organizations to share, to collaborate on my Oyster & Pearl: Watershed exhibition, Splash Scribble Flourish in the Meadow of Life talk, or my Splash Scribble educational program advocating for human creative intelligence, through the Chesapeake Bay and the aquifer that feeds both.
My work already sits within this kind of institutional context: permanent collections with Mathews Land Conservancy and Williamsburg Land Conservancy, alongside the Musée de La Grande Vigne in Dinan, France, City University of New York, and the Longwood University Art Museum. My paintings have also been placed in healthcare and wellness collections — Riverside Hospital, Camp LeJeune Mental Health Facility, Boston Children's Hospital, UMass Memorial Research Hospital, and others — reflecting a practice institutions already trust to speak to restoration and care.
